Which gives you some insight into why he turned out the way he is. Plot 2/2 points: This is a crazy story, you’re in the head of a psychopath and you see his entire world, including his messed up mom. And I definitely will be reading the rest of the series because I need more. The second half of this book was amazing though. The first chapter is the bloody massacre with the Mercedes but then it’s all world building which was a little boring. Hook 1/2 points: It took me about 150 pages to get into this book. Also King puts you right in the mind of a serial killer and it’s creepy and uncomfortable. By the end of the book, you really know these characters. The best part about the writing in this book though is the character depth. But once the thrills start to heat up, this book was not put down. Writing 2/2 points: As usual I found King’s world building skills impressive, although maybe too extensive. It’s a race against time, Hodges must figure out who Brady is before he can pull off another massacre. This story follows retired cop Bill Hodges who starts working on the case of the Mercedes Killer again because he gets a message from him. Brady Hartsfield enjoyed the rush of murder and has decided he will do it again but bigger. A man driving a huge Mercedes into a crowd of people killing almost 10 and seriously wounding a lot of others. Who should read this book: Stephen King fans, serial killer story fans, police driven plot fans.
